As always , great inspiration ….. my playing went up a notch since you helped me connect the dots !!! …. Working that one four five thing linear and up and down a string … 👍🏻💪🏻
Love your video's, Rusty! Very inspiring!!! I spend hours learning from them. I would love a detailed breakdown of this video like you have done with others. I wanna learn everything you're doing here. God bless your soul for teaching us all you know!!!
Thanks so much! I will put something together cause I’m sure some other players like this topic also. I appreciate you checking out the video and blessings to you also.👍
A joyful and prosperous new year Rusty. I am elated to say the least that you also feel and do the same thing. Must hastily add I am currently obsessed with key of E, transposing from my other favorite key of G. OMG, my favorite instrumental version of silent night Amazing Grace sound like an Orchestra on both my beloved acoustic and electric guitar. Those open strings are a God-send to the aspiring, intermediate person venturing into soloing. Abject apology for rambling on, such is my enthusiasm. You always galvanize me into action on my favorite instrument for 45 odd years. Warm regards from Sunny South Africa
Thanks so much Joel!!! It’s good to hear from you! I hope all is well with you and your family. As you know, RUclips is a wild ride! I appreciate you checking in buddy.🙏
Great lesson as always. Thank you for creating and sharing this content. I'm only half way through but don't want to loose this question. Do you have a video on palm muting techniques? I have not had any success with trying it. Thank you again for all you do for those of us trying to make music. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS! BEST AND PEACE
I know I have a few on my channel. I will have to look it up. But muting is such an important part of Guitar playing. Good to hear from you Chuck. Happy new year to you also.🤛
Without a groove no soul no song … right … I like the ACDC stuff youre doing here , a good example … got a New song out you’d probably like , an ACDC cover .. live wire , have an electrifying 2025 Rusty ! ⚡️
Hi Rusty. Thank you for another rythm lesson. What is your advise for beginners with counting beats, maybe you could do a lesson how to play rythm in time with counting. Thanks
Hey Mike, there really is no shortcut other than using a metronome and counting beats and subdivisions out loud. It’s always been a feel thing for me so I don’t have any lessons on that topic. Working with your right hand as you strum is very important also. Thanks for checking out the video Mike.👍
The simple exercises that I showed in the video is the best way. Sometimes you might need a metronome, but creating the up-and-down motion with your right hand and continuing as you play through chords and fills. And you can work on that technique with backing tracks that you like. Thanks a lot for checking out the video brother. See you soon.🤛
@rustysguitar1 my arthritis is a huge impediment to my playing. I don't consider myself a guitar player but I love it. Everyone else (my daughter and family) calls me a player. 🙂
In this short video, I was just concentrating on the right hand motion. Sorry I didn’t elaborate much on the fills. But they were all basically minor pentatonic licks. Thanks for your support, bud.🤛
Great tone...great chops...great rhythm!!! Are you attenuating with the BOSS TAE? If so what's your speaker out set at? I'm a bedroom player trying to get a great chunky tone like yours at 70 to 75 dB's. THANKS!!!
Hey Keith, I love the Boss TAE! I use it in my studio and also for live applications. There is a separate volume for direct recording or front of house and for the speaker out. And also, I love the effect loop. So I can record or play in my small studio at a very low volume or medium volume when I want. It is expensive but I use it every day. Thanks for checking out my video. Rock on brother.✌️
Hey Roger, I’m using the Carr Mercury V amp set clean with some reverb. And driving it with the J Rocket Audio Archer pedal. It’s a nice raw tone! Thanks for checking out the video.👍
Hey Matt, to start with I’m using that amp behind me the Carr Mercury V amp set clean and driving it with the J Rocket Audio Archer pedal. That pedal gives it a raw vintage sound. Happy new year, bud.🤛
Currently using the blues driver myself it took me from zero to hero in regards to tone… but with your humbuckers your tone is killer… my tele sounds thin in comparison… I work in a music store we have pedal here I might check it out
I like your videos Rusty, but seems like you just wanna show off a lot of the times no offense but if you could kinda let us know what you’re talking about when you say the seventh and how to add things instead of ripping off those riffs because you’re a really good guitar player
@@rustysguitar1Hey Rusty , this was bang on for me, just about the concept not so much the nuts and bolts. I guess we are all at different stages of the journey. Rhythm, timing and also feel got me thinking of those old blues guys, who I believe showed us the way. Nice one Bro I like your passion.
@rustysguitar1 Always inspiring and something to lern. The heart behind the note makes it come alive. I improvise a lot, real-time emotions. If i repit too much, i loose the emotions.
Rhythm, rhyme and reason. Thanks a lot of helpful info.
That’s right, Tim! I’m glad the lesson was helpful👍

Thanks again, Rusty. I, too, warm up with AC/DC-style grooves. Like your guitar too. Here, in Scotland, the Bon Scott era is particularly revered.

Thanks, Rusty, for addressing a foundational concept that I too frequently let fall by the wayside with a mechanical focus on riffs or scales!

Rusty, what year is that Les Paul custom? It looks like a 70's model to me.
It’s an original 1981 custom. And it really rocks! Thanks for checking out the video.🤛
